Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of BackBurnerMemo. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. The service
BackBurnerMemo lets you capture short voice or text notes and receive an AI-assisted research brief. Features may change as we improve the product. During beta / TestFlight / internal testing, the service is provided as-is and may be unavailable or reset without notice.
2. Accounts
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your email or sign-in provider secure. You must provide accurate information and be old enough to use the app under the laws of your region.
3. Acceptable use
- Do not abuse rate limits, attempt to bypass security, or overload the service.
- Do not upload unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.
- Do not reverse engineer or misuse the app except as allowed by law.
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or put the service or other users at risk.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the notes you create. You grant us a limited license to process that content solely to operate the service (including transcription, research, storage, and notifications). AI outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete — treat briefs as starting points, not advice.
5. Third-party services
The app relies on third parties (including Supabase, Anthropic, OpenAI, Tavily, Expo, PostHog, Apple, and Google). Their terms and availability may affect the service.
6. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that briefs are correct, complete, or suitable for any decision.
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE PRIOR TWELVE MONTHS OR (B) USD $50.
8. Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account in Settings at any time. We may discontinue the service or your access at any time, especially during testing periods.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance. The effective date above will be updated when Terms change.
